-So, today we got our experiment. Our group of four received the experiment levitating board. We separated the labor between us four in the first link, and we answered basic questions on what we know about our experiment so far in the second link. We basically know nothing about it other than the fact that the audience should feel like they're levitating on some board.

Wednesday, March 9
- Today, we researched different types of levitating experiments done. We worked on student handout 13. We had to do research on other types of levitating experiments done. We then did more research on our experiment and what we wanted to learn from doing it in the psych fair.

Thursday, March 10
-We worked out more information on our own experiment and figured out that we will be measuring how much the audience member will feel like they have levitated. We completed handout 14 and made our thesis "If the students stand on the board, then they will feel like they're floating in the air"

Friday, March 11
- Today, we worked more on the student handouts. We worked out more of the details of the experiment, saying that we need to have the board covered from the rest of the fair and other potential audience members. We're going to do this in order to keep others from knowing of what we're doing and how we do it. This will stop them from changing their minds or having any opinions before the experiment starts.
Monday, March 14
- Today, we completed handout 15, where we figured out what our independent, dependent, and constant groups will be in our experiment. We also completed handout 16 where we explained more details of our experiment. We discussed how exactly the procedure of each experiment will be done during the fair.

Tuesday, March 15
- Today, we completed handout 18. We answered some questions on what we want to get out of the overall experiment. We hypothesized "I think our results should show that everyone should feel like they are above 2 feet off the floor. We figured out how the whole experiment will go starting from how we will bring the audience behind a wall to eliminate anyone making judgments before the experiment is done.
Wednesday, March 16
- Today, finished handouts 19 and 20. we figured out all of the things that are needed for the experiment, assigned tasks and answered questions on what we need for the experiment to go well such as needing a wall in order to put the board behind it so others don't see how its done.

Thursday, March 17
- Today we worked on making a survey that the audience will fill out after we do the experiment. It will ask them their gender, grade, and questions on the experiment. The questions will be whether or not they felt like they levitated and how high on in feet they felt like they did if any. We will use this in order to get statistics on the overall fair after we finish.
Friday, March 18
- Today we worked out more details on how we will make out experiment visually appealing. We will use a lot of sparkling eye catching things on our poster and will lure people in using sweets. We're pretty confident that our experiment will work out pretty well.
Monday, March 21
-We worked on our poster and will purchase all the supplies today. We bought all the supplies for the poster and candy for the fair. We will use balloons to attract the audience. We´re confident that it´ll work out well
Tuesday, March 22
- We finished the poster and are ready for the fair!!!
Wednesday, March 23
- Today was parent night. We worked out some of our small issues such as the transitions from taking blindfolded audience to the back to bringing them back to the front. We have set a pace that we will move the audience member because we´re trying to keep it all constant. It went pretty smoothly overall.
Thursday, March 24
- Today is the Psych Fair. We went from person to person taking them behind a wall, walking them onto the board, moving them back and forth, and squatting. It was exhausting. But people believed that they were levitating. We surveyed 178 people and 82% of the people felt like they levitated. 101 people proved our hypothesis correct saying that they felt like they moved 2 or more feet.
Perhaps some pictures of your experiment or links to video's or pictures of other experiments that are similar.
ReplyDeleteThis seems really interesting and I'm excited to watch and hopefully participate in the experiment
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to trying this one. I wonder if i'll actually feel like I'm being levitated.
ReplyDeleteHow does standing on this board simulate levitation? There must be more to this...
ReplyDeleteThis SEEMS cool but I agree with Desi Vuillaume, a visual aid is imperative. Also, super trippy idea!!! I look forward to trying to see if I'm flying on a magic carpet or something! Good luck, I'm sure it'll be great! :-)
ReplyDeleteReally like the concept of the experiment. I'm hoping to see it in person!
ReplyDeleteAll the google docs are useful for getting more information on the experiment.
ReplyDeletelooking forward to trying this one. I wonder if i'll actually feel like I'm being levitated. sounds like a brain trick that will change my perspective.
ReplyDeleteI think that you should use a visual aid such as a big poster in order to make it more appealing. This seems like fun! I am excited to participate in this experiment and see if I feel as if I am actually levitating.
ReplyDeleteI agree with M. Patel. Using a visual will be helpful and more appealing!
DeleteThis has a lot of potential to be a really cool experiment! I hope you are able to accomplish what you want to, but would like to see more info posted about it.
ReplyDeleteThe basis of this experiment definitely intrigues the possibilities of this experiment, but some visual aid of what this exactly entails would be a great add on.
ReplyDeleteI remember participating in this experiment in previous years. It is always one of my favorites, and there is always a line to participate in it. Very excited to do it again
ReplyDeleteI would encourage adding some sort of visual for people so that they can have a better understanding of your project, however I am very excited to see it!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see what it would actually be like to levitate. Hope this experiment works! Goodluck!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea and if pulled off right could provide a nice insight into our perception
ReplyDeleteReminds me of when we were little and played that game where all of your friends used two fingers to lift you and you felt as if you were levitating!! Lol
ReplyDeleteGreat idea a goodluck! I look forward to trying this one
ReplyDeleteIt should be interesting to see how people respond to the feeling of levitating. Great idea!
