Group 20 - Maze Runners

We had to choose our project, today.  I was so excited that we got the maze!:)  I love being able to work on this with my friends.

3/9/16
Today my group and I worked on constructing ideas for our maze.  We also began to research our topic and started to fill out the sheet that our teacher has assigned to us.

3/10/16
Today, my group and i worked diligently on the Student handout 13.  We researched some experiments online.  We also decided that we were going to focus on the anchor affect for our experiment.

3/11/16
Today my group and I continued to work on student handout 13 we answered most of the topic questions.  We also figured out how we were going to set the maze.  We decided to set up certain stations in the maze.  We would have the participates go through the maze and have them look for this missing landmark.  We want to see if a missing landmark would cause a lot of frustration for the participates which them causing them to take a longer time.
These are the sites that we used:

Today we finished and went over all the required handouts that we had.  We also finished little things that are important in our project such as ideas for the landmarks.

3/15/16
Today we received feedback for student handout 13 and reviewed it as a group.  We also turned in handouts 16 and 17 and began work on handout 18.

3/16/16
Today, my group and i constructed the maze.  We were able to finish the perimeter of the maze and then flip it so that it is standing up.  This construction took a lot a while but it worked out that we were able to get what we got done today.  We know have to construct the walls.  We have considered many designs for the maze but haven't quite decided what we wan the design to be.

3/17/16
Today my group and I planned what we wanted to do for our maze and our poster.  We tried to figure out a layout for the maze and we also looked up pictures to put on our poster.

3/18/16
Today my group and I finished hanging up the outside walls of the maze.  We also thought about what we wanted to do with the maze.  We decided that we wanted to have the exit and the entrance on the same side.  We also glittered the letters for our poster that way by Monday they will be dried.

3/21/16
Today my group and I were able to get a start on our poster.  We were able to glue on the letters for the poster and start some of the writing for our poster.  We also planned the setup of how we want our poster to look.

3/22/16
Today we finished our poster and are almost done constructing the maze.

3/23/16
Today is parent night!  We have most of the maze ready, we just have to do last minute little things.

  3. I like that you're having participants look for an item, rather than just go through the maze normally. I'm excited to stop by!

  4. As interesting as just the concept of the maze is, I feel like you need more information concerning your experiment, and less about how you constructed it.

  5. Are the landmarks an extra step to the maze?

  18. I'm interested in seeing how the missing landmark causes a distraction and makes people go through the maze slower. Cool topic!

  19. I think that using landmarks makes this maze much more unique and more appealing to try. Can't wait to try it!

  20. It's interesting to know that there will not be any landmarks and how it will affect the time taken to complete the maze

  21. Sounds like it was a lot of work to keep the maze going. So it will be nice to see how the experiment plays out in the end

  25. The "landmarks" and then the lack of one are definitely a cool addition from years past, when they just wanted to see how fast you could get out of it. I look forward to seeing it in action!

  26. I like this idea of the missing landmark in the maze. In my opinion, this will make students think twice as hard because they're finding a way out, and looking for the missing landmark

  27. I have always wanted to try the maze but never had a chance to in the past years! There seems to be new additions and im looking forward to trying it out!

  28. The maze idea sounds cool! It should be interesting to see the response inside, especially with the landmark idea.

  30. Looking for items in the maze is fun and different, can't wait for the experiment tomorrow.

  31. I think its a great idea to get people involved with no knowledge of this experiment. It will truly prove if frustration increases time. Good luck!

  32. This is usually the experiment that everyone wants to do every year so hopefully it goes well. Your poster and experiment name are good!
