Group 5 - Family Feud

Today was assigning day, which means we got our experiments and I got Family Feud! I'm excited be cause I love that game show. :)

March 10th: With my experiment I will be testing creativity, For instance can you take the most basic question and give an unusual answer.  This is an example.

Last week we finished all our handouts. I had a little trouble getting them in all on time because it's a lot of work for one person to do by themselves

Yesterday was Parent's Night for the psychology Fair. It' went well lot of Parents thought mine experiment was fun and cute. I enjoyed the parents who came also they were very nice.

Today Is Psychology Fair for the School . It's going Good. People have been giving strange responses to my questions. 1. if a man orders a bride, name a reason why he might send her back?  2. name something that's torture for a man to sit through?  3. name something a really lazy guy might teach his dog to fetch for him?  A lot of people were giving me answer of what the dog would fetch for himself or in general, like a bone or keys just some strange and mixed responses.

so far i gotten through 50 people and i need 50 more.

I ended up with over 90 participants at my booth. Yay all in all it was really fun. :)

  1. Will the participants know they are trying to give a creative answer?

  2. I wonder what the experiment will entail. Is it just asking basic questions and hoping for a creative answer?

    2. yes and no, some of these questions also have basic answers; i just want to see if you can think outside the box for any questions.

  3. It'd be interesting if you can find any patterns like the ink blot test.

    1. so far i've seen people give really basic answers that i would have said and so they rated themselves as dull.

  4. Would like some more info on the experiment itself.

    1. the experiment is test creativity, with basic questions i want to see who can be the most creative with their questions even if the answers are just as basic as the questions.

  5. I would be intrigued if you also dove into the specifics of what categories were able to bring out the most common answers, and if there was something that the common answers all had similar.

    1. my 1st question seems to bring out the most interesting responses. " if a man sends a mail order for a bride, name a reason he might send her back?" you wouldn't believe half the responses got . But my second and third question seems to bring out the most dullest answers or "common" answers as you say. " something that is torture for a man to sit through?" and "name something a lazy guy might teach his dog to fetch for him?"

  6. You should elaborate more on the methods and hypothesis of your experiment. But I love Family Feud and I cannot wait to see what answers people come up with

    1. I have gotten some mixed responses. some were weird others were just outrageous and some were very boring. When i asked my 1st question. about why would a man send his bride back, some people brought race into it which i found interesting. And name something a lazy guy might teach his dog to fetch for him? a lot of people said keys but that wasn't answer. But all in all everyone seems to enjoy it

  7. Give more details. What kind of prompts/questions will participants be given?

and basic as like , common sense, if you're asked questions you would use common sense which is logic but i want to see if imagination/creativity can override your logic

  9. Think there should be more information on whether or not the participant knows if they should be responding creatively or if they would be giving a general answer.

    1. that's the thing if you give a common sense answer and it doesn't work, can you think outside the box to answer the question if logic doesn't work

  10. What type of questions would you be asking? Does this experiment relate to personality and how creative someone is outside of schoolwork? Some people might give a creative answer for one question, but a bland answer for another. I still like the idea, so I hope to see consistent results!

    1. your right, they can be creative with one question and dull with another and so far i have gotten a lot of those results. but the type of questions a relating to a mans point of view and they guys has answer most of them correct but when the girls try to answer the questions they over think the answers because it's from a guys point of view

  11. Are the participants competing against others?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. sometimes they compete and sometimes they do it as a group

  12. I like the game family feud so it will be interesting to see what kind of results you come up with. are you comparing the qualities of your subjects with the level of creativity they show in order to find a correlation?

    1. umm somewhat, i'm having them rate their answer that best describe them so , like super dull, dull, average(logical), creative, super creative

  13. Are you planning on doing a family feud game? I don't quite understand the idea behind your experiment.

  14. What is defined as a "creative answer"?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. like something you normally wouldn't think of

  15. I would like to have more information on what the experiment is asking and how you're going to judge that. I love family feud though, so this should be a fun experiment!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. i judge based off their answers. And it is pretty fun so far

  16. I love Family Feud as well! Although I understand the concept of the game, some participants won't. Please elaborate on your experiment and what the participants will be get in return. What will students think of this experiment? How will they benefit educationally or mentally from this experiment? Define creativity for your experiment.

    1. so far a lot of people like this experiment, and they'll know that the logical answer isn't always the most valued answer.

  17. Okay this is really interesting and I love the game too. Can't wait to see the questions and what people respond to them. Hopefully everything works out. Good luck!

    1. thank you and so far people have given interesting responses

  18. This seems fun but I'm not sure how you collect data. Who or what scale would determine how strange the word is. I feel like this experiment would have too many variables to take into account.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. it really doesn't. it's a scale from super dull- super creative

  20. Family Feud is such a great game show. Is this going to include a group of contestants? Or just one or two people?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. they can participate as one or two or in groups.

  21. Will the more distinct answers prove that that person is more creative or has a different way of thinking?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Will the subjects be prompted to be creative? It would be interesting to see how creativity is impacted when the subjects are pressured to be creative, versus their natural responses.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. i think they feel the pressure of having to be creative when "common" answer fail to appear as the answers

  24. Family Feud is one of my favorite shows, but I would like to know more details on the experiment

    1. basically, i'm asking 3 questions and based off their answers they will rate them as super dull, dull, average (logical), creative, super creative. just like the game show they get 3 X's then their out.

  25. I'm not sure what this experiment entails, but as a fan of Steve Harvey I will make sure I stop by and see what shenanigans you have planned
